Is life back to normal?

by Rajat

Its been roughly eighteen hours since the serial blasts in New Delhi took place. So I guess you know about them. A total of five bomb blasts took place, in crowded areas like Gaffar Market, Greater Kailash, Connought Place and Barakhamba Road. Also, live bombs were diffused near Regal cinema hall in Connought Place and near India Gate.

Indian Mujahedeen has claimed responsiblity of the blasts, which are rumored to be a part of Operation BAD (Bangalore-Ahemedabad-Delhi). Earlier, serial blasts had rocked Bangalore on July 25 and Ahemedabad on July 27.
TV news channels, as expected, were instrumental in creating panic among people by flashing some deadly headlines as part of the so called “Breaking News”. Minutes after the blasts, TV crews rushed to the spot, and started interviewing the friends and relatives of the victims. Same old story — “Aapko kaisa lag raha hai?”, “Aap kaisa mehsoos kar rahe hain?”, “Aapko kya lagta hai, kisne karwaaye hain yeh blasts?”. C’mon guys, these people don’t belong to always feel good category, who’ll smile at the sight of their wounded relatives. And these guys aren’t intelligence officials either, who will ‘know’ about people who planted the bombs.
And the news channel people also make it a point to show all the blood and gore to the general public, so that even small children are able to see the face of death with their own eyes. Its high time these channel-wallahs mended their ways.
Anyways, enough channel-bashing now. All I wanted to ask you is, “Is life back to normal?”
Do you think like this — “Okay, bombs were yesterday. Life should go on the way it used to be, like the day before yesterday.”
If you ask me, I’ll be in a denial. Life today should not be like life the day before yesterday. We should not be allowed to forget ‘yesterday’. We should not be allowed to claim that we are not affected by these blasts in any way. We should not be able to claim that terrorists are some dumb ass morons who keep bombing people when they are not affected by them. If we accept these bombs as a part of our lives, then more explosions will happen. More blood will flow. More people will die. And we will be cool about it, because it is “a part of life”.
Our life should change forever after these blasts. We should be more vigilant, and more courageous. PM’s condemnation of the blasts doesn’t help. We, as a country should condemn these acts of terror, so that these fucking terrorists get to know that we are affected by them, but not in a way they should have liked. We are stronger than ever.

PS — Please ask yourself, and the people around you, to observe a two minute silence for the people who lost their lives yesterday. May their souls rest in peace.
