Ultimate Change

So isn’t that enough to justify that yes now no longer the time has remained the same or yes now the western culture has over taken or started up to eat the Indian culture(almost as if it is a delicious pizza)?. So that’s the issue which I think really reflects the true on going ultimate change in our society.

Now many of you would be almost agree with all I had just said because in the present scenario each & every individual know that yes that’s the fact. But considering it just a fact doesn’t mean that the game is all over, yes …it just awake us by reflecting that how important it has become today to secure Indian culture (yes the culture of a country which was once called as “Golden Bird”).

So we all know that India is losing its identity & aping west blindly. But what this westernization or Americanization anyway means exactly? Apparently these word(s) means different things to different people in India. It means industrialized & technologically advanced to business community, civilized to growth seeking people, richer & fancier lifestyles to wealthy, sanskriti-less to the orthodox & glamour to the youth.

So now let me move towards the example to make it clearer that how basically westernization is going on & on……. & I think to describe it in a stroke itself we have to move towards the malls. Now we all know that presently we are having the retail boom with an explosion of malls with high brands like Nike, Wills available like in any other country. But do we have malls which have rural setup with staff not dressed up in designer wear & instead of selling Irish coffee & Italian food(specially the most common Hakka noodles…yummy)it selling “Gobi ka paranths” or any other similar desi Indian food?…hmm…..

Now let me here another interesting fact with you recently during my visit to one of the, malls in Gurgaon, I just had a short (but a good one) conversation with a Russian. During interaction he just pin-pointed out me that “Shopping in India is no longer seems as if you are shopping in the rural India” (as mostly predicted by the foreigners) but it is almost like if you are shopping at another high & commercial mall in Russia.

So it’s basically shame sort of thing we marked upon this path of “aping the west”, in the quest to be “westernized”. It is absolutely expected that all our cultural values will dissimilate some unwanted changes due to global economic policies. But we, the people can demonstrate vigilance by embracing good from outside & retain what’s already good in our …..Otherwise we would be at a risk of not only losing our identity but also of transforming this colorful diverse-cultured world into a pale-mono-cultured world.

Now…..I end up all this by some Gandhiji’s Quotes, which I once read in his biography. It was his belief that we (East) had more to teach the west than west had to offer to east to be more human, to be more civilized & to be respectful to our dear planet.

So I just hope that may one day soon Gandhiji’s wisdom again awakens us to all the beautiful things that, make us uniquely Indians & help us to re-realize the courage, strength & true potential that we Indians have always possessed to lead the world in right path. And also on the some time lets also hope that tourists like the Russian one will have more exotic memories of real Indian to carry back to their homeland to narrate to there grand children.

So just be proud to be Indian & never shy away from your tradition & culture, be it in the way you speak, dress or think.
